Employment in Healthcare

The healthcare industry has become the largest employer in the United States and more than 22 million people are working in the sector. Since the growth in healthcare spending has outstripped GDP growth for nearly a century, it is not surprising that healthcare would eventually take the crown.

Since 1990, the number of people working in healthcare has grown by nearly 150%, while the overall workforce has grown by only 50%. This trend is set to continue with healthcare employment growth continuing to compound at 2.0%+ per year while overall workforce growth in the US stagnates.
